Martin Luther King Jr. Monument
Every year Mujeres de la Tierra would plant a tree at Kenneth Hahn Park to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. However, every year gophers would eat the roots of the trees. In 2018, Mujeres de la Tierra organized the first and only Martin Luther King Jr. monument in Los Angeles located at Kenneth Hahn Park. Mujeres de la Tierra worked together with other organizations to install this monument in 9 months. Vamos a Sacramento with
Community Members and Azul
Before Covid-19, Mujeres de la Tierra would partner with Azul to bring community members for Ocean Day to involve more Latinos/as in marine advocacy. After so long, Mujeres de la Tierra collaborated with Azul to bring 21 community members to Sacramento to ask California Legislators to support the equitable and science-based implementation of the 30x30 goal. As well as to restore budget cuts for 30x30 implementation, and equitable coastal access and coastal resilience programs. Our community members were able to share their stories about their personal connection to the ocean.

Noche de Estrellas with Telemundo 52
Mujeres de la Tierra joined Aquarium of the Pacific at their Noche de Estrellas family event. It is a community-oriented event where parents and children were able to experience the aquarium in the evening with great music, food, and resource activity tables. Mujeres de la Tierra was ecstatic to see everyone so invested in ways to heal the ocean. We shared how to make plarn (plastic yarn) and to use it to make recycled materials into crafts. We were also very excited to show our "Most Dangerous Species in the Ocean" visual board inspired by a British studio exhibit so families can see how all the plastics in the ocean are affecting our environment and also learn how to reduce trash.
Vamos a la Playa Towel
Mujeres de la Tierra partners with different organizations to take families to Malibu beaches to educate them on their right to coastal access. Many of our community members have never visited a Malibu beach because they believe Malibu beaches are private and not for them. We show them that all beaches are public and right to utilize them.
Since most of them are their first time at the beach and do not have a towel. You can sponsor a family of 4 for our Vamos a la Playa Trip for just $25.
