Project Manager - Bilingual (Spanish)

Los Angeles, CA.

Mujeres de la Tierra is responding to our community in Northeast LA (NELA) in their desire for a culturally-specific and community driven environmental education outdoor project. We are seeking a passionate Bilingual Project Manager who is a true community listener and advocate for the healing of La Madre Tierra. Under the supervision of the President/CEO the Project Manager will spearhead the different phases of project development of an educational greenspace, including design development, financial feasibility analysis, procuring and contracting with all third party consultants. The ideal candidate will have the community in mind as they supervise all efforts to fulfill the goals and objectives of the program, designing plans and operations according to contract and budget guidelines. This includes overseeing resources, coordinating the efforts of community partners while managing the Community Engagement Coordinator.

 

This is a two year term position, with the possibility of permanent employment.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Manage projects end-to-end, which includes scoping, planning, solution design, execution, risk/issue mitigation and stakeholder manager

  • Identify, monitor and communicate project risks and scope changes that may arise during the implementation

  • Build strong relationships with all internal and external project stakeholders, partners up to and including community members

  • Manager resources planning and utilization to drive progress and achieve milestones

  • Oversee all activities related to data collection, surveys and monitoring of the programs overseen, in order to draft reports to funders, grantors and partners

  • Assist in securing potential new funding and projects

  • Other duties as directed to accomplish program goals

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent bilingual (English/Spanish) communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortability working and engaging with a diverse range of community members, organizations, public officials, and other stakeholders

  • Value community listening

  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workflow to meet deadlines with a full workload

  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

  • Excellent organization and planning skills

  • Strong public speaking ability in English and Spanish

  • Natural problem-solver, comfortable with complexity and ambiguity

  • Play an active part in creating a positive work atmosphere during the project

  • Ability to work Monday - Friday and flexibility outside core hours, including evenings and weekends, per business needs

  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

Required Travel - Typically, we estimate up to 10% travel to different communities in Los Angeles

 

Education and Experience:

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university or combination of education and equivalent experience

  • Previous experience managing projects and contracts

  • Previous environmental work experience

  • Should have at least 1 year supervisory experience as a Project Manager or equivalent

Reports to: President/CEO

Compensation: $64,480 - $66,000 depending on experience

Job Status: Exempt

Community Engagement Coordinator - Bilingual (Spanish)

Los Angeles, CA.

We are seeking a highly motivated, outgoing and well-organized individual to join our team as a Community Engagement Coordinator. The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in creating a meaningful and intentional engagement strategy to support MDLT’s cultural relevant approach. The Coordinator will lead the organization and facilitation of a wide range of community engagement and capacity building initiatives throughout different Los Angeles communities, including collaborative meetings, community surveys, listening sessions, neighborhood meetings, and capacity building workshops. 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Outreach, partner and collaborate with key strategic community leaders, organizations, stakeholders, and residents

  • Build impactful relationships that drive engagement within the community

  • Enhance and strengthen the branding of Mujeres de la Tierra within the community

  • Represent Mujeres de la Tierra in community meetings, workshops and other key gatherings

  • Support the planning and execution of events, programs, and projects

  • Establish contact list of collaborators, partners, and community leaders in the area

  • Develop community communication and educational clusters

  • Highlight and document the great work being done in the community. Complete regular reports outlining the progress made

  • Assist with the preparation of various reports, data, and statistical information

  • Develop educational materials, flyers, and other pertinent written materials

  • Support with translation of materials: English/Spanish

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent bilingual (English/Spanish) communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortability working and engaging with a diverse range of community members, organizations, public officials, and other stakeholders

  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and familiarity with Los Angeles

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines

  • Experience in facilitating group workshops

  • Reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision 

  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and G-Suite

  • Must have access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by law

  • Ability to work Monday - Friday and flexibility outside core hours, including evenings and weekends, per business needs

Required Travel - Typically, we estimate up to %30 travel to different communities in Los Angeles

Education and Experience:

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university or combination of education and equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of in community and/or volunteer engagement, environmental education or similar fields

Reports to: Project Manager

Compensation: $20.91 - $23.55 an hour (depending on experience)

Job Status: Non-exempt

Desired Start Date: June 2023
